Nima Khodadadi (Nimakhan) is a dedicated 2nd Ph.D. candidate at the University of Miami (UM). He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in structural and civil engineering from the University of Tabriz, one of Iran’s top ten universities. He earned his first Ph.D. at the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), focusing on steel structures, particularly in the experimental and numerical investigation of steel-braced framesNima has been actively involved in engineering optimization, specializing in evolutionary algorithms.  His primary research interests include artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP), concrete, and metaheuristic algorithms. His work addresses single- and multi-objective engineering optimization, particularly solving large-scale and practical structural design problems. Recently, he has focused on AI techniques and applications for FRP-integrated concrete structures. His steadfast dedication has resulted in over 75 peer-reviewed publications, more than 3,000 citations, and an H-index of 35. His research interests also include Optimization, Swarm Intelligence, Evolutionary Algorithms, and Machine Learning. His hobbies are coding, playing soccer, and swimming. Sadegh Tale

Chief of Staff

I’m a second year PhD student in the college of engineering, Advanced Materials lab, researching the chemistry of cementitious materials and admixtures. My work contains a plethora of chemical measurements and experimenting, computer analysis, machine learning model development and of course small lab scale casting of cement-based specimen (the hardest of all!). In my free time, I watch a ton of movies and shows, read Sci-fi and science books, hang out with friends and try to discover niche spots in Miami!

Subhashree Panda

Director of Communications

I am a 3rd year PhD student in the civil and architecture engineering department. research is dedicated to the exploration of low-carbon supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) like CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glasses, which have the potential to mitigate the CO2 emissions typically associated with cement manufacturing. I have been undertaking comprehensive structural characterization and reactivity analysis along with an extensive molecular dynamic simulation approach on these glasses to gain a deeper understanding of the individual elements. Fun fact – I’m such a foodie that my taste buds have more frequent flyer miles than I do!  I explore cuisines as long as my stomach can fit it all in 😊.Boring fact – Staying on campus is like a wild rollercoaster ride, while sleeping at home is like a slow, peaceful carousel. And I choose the rollercoaster, even if it comes with a snoring soundtrack!
